Has anyone done this?  I started some bok choy from the cut off bottom of a batch I bought. Planted them directly in soil because in the past when I started them in water they did not adjust to soil and died away. I have also done carrot tops, garlic, romaine etc. neat to watch them grow

What's in your soil mix? I have never seen any like that around here.

Tried it with alot of stuff over the years.
Pineapple tops work wekk, avocado seed stuck with a few toothpicks and sat over a jar or glass of water will grow well too

@stev it is just a Miracle Grow garden and veggie mix. Was hoping they would grow faster so we can have them for dinner soon. They like shade, so I have them near the fence on the shady side of the yard.

Thanks, Clarissa. I'll check out the local garden centers.

Looking forward to see how this turns out.

I have used that method to grow both bok choy and green onions (scallions).  Once you use the top green parts of the scallions, plant the the bottom part with the roots.  They will grow new green tops that can be continually cut multiple times. Rosemary is another prolific herb. Just put a stem or branch in water and after a couple of weeks it will produce roots.  Then plant it and you will have fresh rosemary forever.

I grow all sorts of veggies like that...Usually in my compost pile and rarely on purpose...

Great use of your scraps...

We have basil, garlic,  onion,  lavender, ginger, and carrots growing from scrap right now.  My wife is proud of her accomplishment.
