I just finished restoring my 1991 SSP and even though I have tightened all the blots etc, I still have a slight wobble to the structure.  I am not sure but I think that it might be the two pieces of tubing on the bottom of the grill with the star nuts so I was thinking of trying to replace them with new ones.  I do not think that they were rusted per se, but everything else seems pretty tight.  Any suggestions?

Also, any idea where to buy replacements and the correct size?

Check the bolts for the two cross braces.  I'd replace with stainless.  May seem simple but also check your casters.  The part where it inserts into the tubing is cracked on mine and cause a little wobble.

The major bolts are 1/4-20 x 1 3/4

If you have a Weber login you can download manuals.

I put brand new casters on when I put it back together and I think my cross braces are pretty tight and did replace with stainless but over tightened so much that I cannot even get wrench on the bolt head which dug into the washer. . .still working on that though.   I remember seeing a post a while back on where to buy the correct star nuts, but can't seem to find it.

Thanks for the advice.

Has anyone tried these star nuts, and if so, did they work well?

Kneab

McMaster Carr carries them.
They work well.
