Help me choose e310 genesis gen 1 vs gen 2

So, my local Ace had the e310 Special Edition( has all stainless insides) in Crimson Red for $650 ($700 after Tax). I bought it and it's sitting in storage.

I looked hard and long at the Gen II 310 but you have to get the LX to get the storage cabinets. The gen 1 has the storage doors.

Since the gen 1 is $50 cheaper and has storage vs the gen II does  not have the storage doors I chose the gen 1. Is gen II worth it, really?

I would have done gen II LX if it wasn't like $600 more.

Anyone have true cook experience with both? My mom and aunt both have the gen I Genesis 310 and love them.

Purely based on looks....Personally, gen 2 looks cheap & ugly and seems like Weber is trying to give you less for your money now that you don't get the nice bottom storage compartment.

Right, that's what I love about the gen 1 is the look and the dang cabinets! Also, I may go natural gas so I can get a conversion kit if or when I do. Pretty sure gen II does not have conversions avail. You have to buy it nat vs lp. Also, I think gen 1 is made in us. Gen II is china but the LX version is made in Michigan. Open concept bottom on a gasser is not for me.

I just picked up a free gen 1 green ep-320 today on CL.  Can't wait to clean her up and add to the stable.

If you have any questions about the genesis II or the genesis II lx, feel free to dm me. I travel with both and love them.  Cheers

I think you made a good decision. The E-310 is more comparable to the Genesis II LX line which is now much more expensive. Enjoy your next grill.
