2002 Genesis Gold C Restoration
« on: November 24, 2016, 08:05:29 AM »
I picked up this 2002 Genesis Gold C for $30. There's a full propane tank, Weber cover and a brand new rotisserie. Score!
Looks like they took good care of her. Original owners. DU age code, 2002.
She needed a real good cleaning. No rust on the frame. Flavorizer bars are in good condition. The side burner still has plastic under the cover.  One burner has a hole from rust. The lid is in great shape.

Finished cleaning. Waiting on the replacement parts.

Painted the lid sides, firebox and frame. Replaced the burners, new SS grates, igniter, thermometer, gas hose and regulator. Added the warming rack and warming basket. Sadly the basket is too short.
Anyone want to trade?
I was surprised to see aluminum rust on the newly painted lid sides. Do I have to repaint them?

Nicely done on this restore of one of the great older Weber models. I have always liked these with all the pop up work surfaces.
Plus a good side burner to lite your chimmey for your WSM.
Nice job.

I'd pull those end caps off and spray them with high temp paint!
