George's Birthday Bash 2017

On February 26,1921 George A.Stephen  was born and just a few decades later he created the iconic Weber Kettle and the rest as they say is history.

We here at the Weber Kettle Club are all about history and even more so we love a good cook out on our Weber Grills . That's why we have decided to pay homage to the man that started it all with a weekend long Birthday celebration.

The event will run the weekend of February 24-26, 2017 and will feature an e-cook and also for those interested a very special photo contest.

E-Cook And Photo Contest Information

Right here in this thread  - post your pictures of the birthday dinner you created for George on your Weber Grill. Make sure you make him a plate and that you share the details. There will be bonus points if you a re-create a meal featured in any Weber publication so be sure to post the photo you used.
All entries will be entered into a prize drawing and a people's choice award will also be selected.

Bonus Points - George's Photo Contest
Recreate a scene from any known Weber Publication featuring George. Pick an image from our gallery, or go out and find another.
It can be as elaborate as a 1960s catalog cover or as easy as George leaning on a red kettle but it must feature George and a Weber and it must be live not photoshopped. All entries will be entered into a random prize drawing and a people's choice award presented for best overall re-creation.

Prizes include
WKC T-Shirts-stickers - NIB wok and more
We will create a discussion thread for questions and for comments during the event so we don't clog the event threads with chatter.

Good Luck and Have fun

CLIFFS NOTES: Cook something on your Weber this weekend, post a pic and details here.
Bonus points if you recreate a vintage Weber image.
Wanted plum/burgundy 18.5

Hey guys, trying to gauge interest in this weekends e-cook.  Could you reply below if you are in?
I am not a collector, but I do have a small collection.

I'll do my best to participate. Not sure what I have going on this weekend.

I don't understand the photo contest. How do you feature a picture of George?  Do you mean pictures of us grilling something from a catalog?

So if I understand correctly, we are trying to recreate the scenes of pics with George in them.

@Troy @Idahawk   Right?

@56MPG ...that's not a very flattering photoshop job!
Too bad this event didn't happen last weekend with all the amazing weather.  Back to normal in the Midwest with snowstorms.
Kettle collector AND cooker!

@LightningBoldtz - I plan to do a cook of some sort - early 60s style. Gotta figure something out...

I have no problem cancelling this event , there's no interest from the membership or the other statesmen and the thread is being trolled so I say knock in the head .

I'll definitely be cooking something up for George

@Idahawk Sorry for the late response, I'm still playing catch-up from a family trip last week!

Weather is also calling for more snow here between now and the weekend so things could get interesting... Either way a vintage kettle will have a fire in it's belly! 8)

I'm planning on cooking something for sure, not sure if I can recreate anything - but I'll definitely post a food pic

Sorry Dave, I was looking forward to seeing this event take place.  Unfortunately for me, I have too much personally going on to participate in any fashion.

This is the first time I've been on this particular forum.

Seems like a cool idea, and seeing as how Feb 25 is my b-day, I'm in for at least a cook pic or two.

I can't think of a better reason to break out the 18.5 Custom.

In fact I'm planning on stopping by goodwill today so I can find some plaid polyester pants for my photo recreation
