Simpson SJ rescue

Popped up on LetGo last night for $20. Immediately messaged the seller and arranged a pick up today.  She apologized that it was in such bad shape since it lived outside.  The charcoal and cooking grates are toast as well as the wing nuts for the legs.  Other than that, it is a great $20 Simpson's SJ.  The best part is, it was my wife pushed me to get it for her.  This is her fourth kettle she lays claim to now at our house.  Helps when both of us are "infected".




Quick clean up on the lid and vent and 303 Protectant on the handle. Couple of nicks in the lid but not bad shape. Surprising since the previous owners used it as their only BBQ source since they bought it new.

She said that at least 5 more people had messaged her after I contacted her last night.  I drove out 580 to Tracy to get it, not knowing about the sink hole on the opposite side of the highway.  Pothole hell.  I think it was a Predator missile strike.



What was suppose to be a 35 minute return drive was going to be almost 2 hours. Thankfully I have the Waze app on my phone.  It found an alternate route home via Patterson Pass Rd.  Beautiful drive through pastures on a barely 1 1/2 lane road, with no dividing paint line.   Pretty drive and beat sitting in traffic for 2 hours.
