Last week i tried a Myron Mixon baby rack rib marinade. Didn't let my girls know and wanted to see their reaction when eating. They were both saying how great they turned out and asked what did I do differently with the rub. Other than the marinade, I didn't change a thing. I found the ribs to be more flavorful and moist. Got two racks marinating right now and throwing them on later. Happy Sunday everyone!

I've heard of the marinade, butt never tried it. How long did they bathe in it?
Multiple kettles and WSM's. I am not a collector, just a gatherer... and a sick bastard.

It is but it works. If it wasn't for him being the winningest man in BBQ , I probably wouldn't have tried it.

When I was still competing, I've met him a few times... he knows his stuff.

I didn't ever think so either till I found his recipe for Memphis of May winning baby back ribs. Ginger ale , orange juice , salt , soy sauce , and ranch dressing mix. Crazy but good

The salt concerns me a little. Soy and 2 cups of salt?  Then you have a rub I assume. That didn't make it too salty?

I didn't do 4 so i cut the recipe in half. It didn't at all. Guess that why it's only for 4 hours instead of most being overnight. I also add butter and BBQ sauce so that sweetens it up.

Maybe the sugar in the OJ and ale counter it ? Like I said , I was skeptical when reading the ingredients, but  coming from arguably the best BBQer ever is the only reason I tried it.

I don't doubt it at all, that just stuck out to me initially. I'll try it sometime.

Nice......Myron thinks his stuff thru pretty well.....the salt will draw the other flavors into the meat, but likely not make things too salty to the taste....like a brine, of sorts.....

If you want to try some experimenting, skip the marinade step & "bake" the ribs in whatever concoction you pick, in foil for a large first portion of the cook......then baste w/ the leftover juice from the foil.....examples:

Maybe then change up the mix to much less of a salt thing?
