What's the best way to seal up those gaps when using your rotisserie. Or is there any way to get a tighter fit?

I don't worry about them but I don't do low and slow with the rotisserie

I really don't either but I was thinking of maybe trying to get a Lil smoke on the bird for the 1st hr then bring the heat up the rest of the cook...

You don't have to worry about the gaps for that. Just throw your wood chunks on there and it'll be fine. No. biggie. You'll get smoke.

I always just throw a chunk or two on top of the coals when I start cooking and it adds plenty of smoke flavor to the bird.
