Hi, everyone, new user, thought Id show my "new" grill and ask some questions and look for some advice.

Family gave me this grill still cant figure out what exact model it is, so far just found #8006  and that brings up some google results for the grill.

Doesnt look like it will need to much work, I know a new thermometer, maybe a paint job, and a general good cleaning.

Let me know what you think, or give me advice on where I should look for parts/what model I have.

Welcome

The picture doesn't show

Is this a gasser?

If so,  assuming an older Genesis, pull the control panel  off and see if there's a label on the bottom side of it.

Easiest way is to use the smartphone app and post from your photo library. If you don't have a smartphone read this.

What type of paint do most use? What is the best at withstanding high heat?

Id like to do the "redhead" style model when I redo mine.

Welcome to the club.

The lids really don't paint well-the colors on them are porcelain enameled, not painted.  That's a beast of a grill though.  I've got one going on twenty years old and going strong.  You might be best off hunting for a used redhead to swap out the manifold (to convert to propane) and get a real red lid out of it that way.  If you do go that route, make sure your donor grill and the one you have have the same amount of flavorizers (5 or 13).  It won't  matter for the lid (those will be interchangeable as long as you're still on a 3 burner) but it will for the manifold.  If you post where you're from people might be able to help you.  Those look like cast iron grates, which will clean/season up nicely, and the frame and boards look to be in good shape.

If you have questions, just post them up, since there's a lot of knowledge here.
