Initial Unveiling of my Red 26
« on: July 05, 2016, 07:27:13 PM »
WHEW!, that was a  FU*#%^@ nerve-wracking ordeal!!!   Well here she is! I will post some better pics this weekend after I'm able to give her some cleaning up. Thanks to all of you who were cheering me on and to those of you (redkettlerich) who "thought you wanted it more than me"....LOL. This kettle is nice even with a bent handle, chipped finish and rust spots but then again ALL the dampers turn free, I was surprised, BOTH grates are in very usable condition and did i mention its a 26" REDHEAD?! WELL IT IS!!   I cant wait to clean it up and GRILL SOMETHING!!!  I will leave the handle as it is, I will treat the chipped areas and rust spots and I think there is minor leg work that needs a little attention, but its not like I'm looking to flip it. I am keeping this one for a long time.

Thanks Darko,  I like the "character"... like tattoos and scars, there's a story for every one of them.

I agree wholeheartedly.  I'm leaving the bent handle on my "Patent Pending" 26" just like it is. Kinda reminds me of the old Ford hot rods that have had the roof lines chopped and slanted. That is what I have nicknamed this one - Chop Top. I believe that if  ZZ Top has a Weber kettle, its handle is just like yours.

Nice 26er.  You'll enjoy cooking on that one.  I'm always amazed at the color change when the red heads get hot.
