**Brown Happy Cooker Restoration**
« on: April 25, 2016, 07:05:21 PM »
I didn't intend to get attached to it, but it kinda grew on me!

This was an $8 craigslist find, I only got it for the ash pan, but was convinced to give it a good RRR.

I scrapped the rusted legs and axel rack and replaced them with a set off a 22" Weber. They are @ 1" shorter in length and the originals. Salvaged the original wheels.

Bowl and lid interiors cleaned up and in good shape

Lid bail, bracket and holder cloesup

Ash pan

Heavy duty porcelain coated cook grate

Stainless Steel daisy wheel vents top and bottom

Thanks for looking!
I cook on: Backwoods Gater, Lang 36, Hunsaker Smokers, Pellet Pro 22" WSM, BGE's, WSM's, Cajun Bandits, PK Grills, Drum Smokers, Genesis Silver C, Weber Q's, Cookshack 008, Little Chief, La Caja China #2, Lodge Sportsman...oh yeah! Weber Kettles! Kamado restoration and pit modification hack!

Glad you've become attached.  She cleaned up grate.  Man, I'm gonna need to get one now[emoji6]
Obviously looking for a Glen Blue (who isn’t?😂).

Looking for anything Happy Cooker, including any re-branded as Montgomery Ward.  I’ve amassed a nice collection, but I’m missing a few still.  Let me know if you can help a fella out🤞

Such good ideas on that model. Wish Weber had copied a few.
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

The one thing I don't care for is how wobbly the legs are with the open sockets and nuts and bolts to secure them. I put some thin steel spacers to tighten them up, but they need more.

I'm even considering putting Cajun Bandit legs on it...... ;)

@swampb,  It's great to see that you did go pick up that HC brownie after all.   The cleanUP looks really great  ...  much better than my HC blackie.   They do seem to grow on you, don't they :)                       SJ

Super nice cleanup! I forgot that the inside of the bowl and lid is the same color as the outside. I love the color. It reminds me of the self cleaning one from this 80s HC ad..

I'm glad to see you kept it and cleaned it up !  It's interesting that these brown hinged lid models are also brown on the inside ? Just another HC mystery
