How far would you drive???
« on: April 17, 2016, 05:36:19 PM »
I was curious how far people would be willing to drive for the grill they wanted, or how far they have driven? I just got back from a trip from Omaha, NE to St.Louis, MO for my ranch kettle. Pretty long drive (439 miles one way) for a grill. However I've wanted one for a while and they never come up around here and the only way to get one it seems is to order one. So I took the drive to go and pick it up and could not be happier. Kind of a silly question but just curious if I am the only one who drive that far. I'm was at about 950 miles round trip. So how far have you went?

That was maybe worth the drive, I guess it would depend on what it was......but some things would be worth driving for..
Vintage Weber Grill raconteur and bon vivant.....and definitely Sir Agent X

If it fits in the budget and you've got the time, then why not? Especially for something rare.

Nice RK.   That's the one with the extra lid and charcoal grate ?   If I didn't already have an RK, I would have made the trip down from Louisville depending on what kind of price I could have negotiated on it.

How far would I drive for a grill ?  I'd have to place a $ value on the grill, start with the purchase price and then calculate in the associated travel costs.  If I have time on my hands, and if the numbers work out, I'd drive quite some ways for the right grill.

What kind of tree you got in your yard. I know, I know, I'm sorry, I just love massive trees.

Yes, that is the one the guy had with extra lid and charcoal great. Was in great shape like he said and he even held it for me until I could make it down.

If I had the day off anywhere in New England for the right one.
I had some time off last week and was trying to coerce a couple of my buddies to road trip it from Gloucester MA to Rhode Island for a Green Performer but they had to work.

As far as I would be willing or more importantly, able to go to get something. Congratulations on the Ranch, @cumminfourya ! As you well know, not much comes up around our neck of the woods. Save for the occasional two tone red 22 OT kettles or Performers once in a blue moon.

It would depend on the Kettle. As it stands, I'd be willing to do a 100mile round trip.
