The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

A Rotisserie Pork Roast , lump let down and one heck of a storm .

We had to Travel for Easter and made it home late in the afternoon on Sunday , I decided to grill up a pork roast and wanted to use the rotisserie .

I rubbed the roast with some Bad Byron's and lit a full chimney of royal oak lump ( a charcoal I've rarely used) I set up for indirect with a chunk of apple wood .

About an hour into the cook the sky's turned black and the wind and hail started

At the two hour mark I decided to temp the roast to see where I was at . I noticed the temp on the MT was way down and when I opened the lid I was stunned to see all the charcoal had burned up and was gone. Shit !  Not at all close to the burn time I get with KBB . I realized the Royal Oak I had used was mostly small pieces and that likely caused the fast burn time , so I had to add more and wait for it to get going .

Roast in waiting [emoji43]

Once the coals were going we were back at it again and it turned  out extremely well , despite the long pause .

It's that one variable that "shouldn't make a difference" that gets ya every time. Good recovery!
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

That pork took on a good smoke ring. That looks tasty. Way to cope with the down time.

Great looking roast!  Two questions:
1. What cut?
2. Where did you get the wrap?

Don't ya hate it when the drizzle makes the grill fizzle instead of sizzle.

You can't always get what you want....but if you try sometimes you get what you need
