First post plus first cook on first kettle
« on: November 02, 2015, 11:16:45 PM »
Greetings from Australia.
After a few months of looking around i finally got myself a Weber Kettle to have a crack at some smoking. It's a green H code i purchased from Hogsy. I've had a Q for a while now and it's great, but i want to try some low and slow style cooks.
I had the day off today so i thought i would share my first simple cook with heat beads with you guys.

I went with buffalo wings and bacon wrapped continental franks. I also threw on some mesquite chips for some smoke flavour and it worked great.

Then to see out the coals i chucked on a quick cherry crumble.

All in all it went great.I picked up lots of tips from lurking on this site for the last few months.
Next stop = pulled pork, low and slow

Welcome!
That all looks awesome, great first run.
Is that you first time using charcoal? If so I'd say you nailed it!

Thanks for the welcome guys.
Yes it was my first cook with charcoal, but with youtube vids and info picked up on this site it was pretty uneventful. It took me an hour to get the chimney started with newspaper so i have some learning to do there.
Ill take some pics of the kettle when the rain stops.

Obviously looking for a Glen Blue (who isn’t?😂).

Looking for anything Happy Cooker, including any re-branded as Montgomery Ward.  I’ve amassed a nice collection, but I’m missing a few still.  Let me know if you can help a fella out🤞
