Cheddar Bacon Portobello Mushroom Burgers
« on: May 29, 2015, 10:01:49 PM »
Inspired by @Winz's "My Best Burger" post from last week (http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/bbq-food-pics/my-best-burger/) I decided to try something similar this evening with a few slight personalization's. In sticking with the theme I am also using a rub he sent to me awhile back in a care pack - this is really good stuff!

Ingredients:

4 - Cheddar Bacon Patties
4 - Cheesy Buns
1 - Portobello Mushroom, chopped
4 - Tbsp Blues Hog BBQ Sauce
3 - Mild Italian Sausages
3 - Chicken Apple Sausages
1 - Package Frozen Sweet Potato Fries (Crinkle cut of course)
7 - Cheese slices (1 for each burger, 3 for the fries)
Dusting of Rub - EAT Barbecue "The Most Powerful Stuff on Earth"

Patties all formed up and ready for goodness:

Load up each patty with a good amount of chopped Portobello Mushroom and then add 1 Tbsp of Blues Hog to the top of each burger.

I LOVE these things... Sweet Potato Crinkle Cut

Just about ready to hit the grill:

Bingo:

Getting there...

Cheesy Buns a toastin' with some Margarine and 1 slice of cheese added to cap off each burger.

Nom Nom Nom...

And finally a plate for you...

Conclusion:

These were really good - and I've made up my mind that I prefer a smoked Burger over a grilled one. It was cooked perfect and the Portobello and Blues Hog added just the right amount of flavour and moisture to the mix... Delicious!!

Happy Friday all,

- Six

Geez....between you & Winz  looks like I'm gonna have step up the game a bit.....those look fantastic (as were his & a few other types I've seen lately)....

Maybe I could slap a Personal Turkey Meatoaf on a bun?

Matt - those are some amazing burgers. I agree, smoking them indirect makes for a better burger, and the "well" method keeps all the goodness in instead of sliding off the top when you eat it.   I really like your "lid of cheese" added toward the end of the cook.   Can I assume all this goodness was washed down with a frosty cold beer?

Thanks Winz - you bet! A friend brought over a local "Red Truck Lager" the other day so that was the brew of choice... good stuff!  8)
