Throwback Cook 1960: Chicken a la vermouth.
« on: May 17, 2015, 01:50:02 PM »
From a 1960 Weber recipe for the BAR B Q KETTLE. Here are the pics. Recipe details to follow when I can get pics of the book and the actual recipe. I can tell you it called for MSG (monosodium glutemate) as one of the ingredients that I did switch out with a Morton Salt brand seasoning. (MSG gives me splitting headaches)

Here's the pics and the kettle. 1962-63 Statesman.

Foil wrapped twice baked potatoes added to the elevated grate.

Brussel sprouts added..

Then it was time for dessert!

Oh yes I did!!

I'll have the chicken recipe posted later. Thanks for looking!

Love the grill, love the chicken, love the idea of throwback weber recipes, even love leaving out the MSG.
But then I got to the "oh yes I did" part. LOVE the idea of grilled Twinkies.
Genius!

Twinkies for dessert. Now that's what I call keeping' it real, '60s style.
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

That's the one. I was not home when I posted this and didn't have the book nearby to snap a pic.

Thanks bwb!
