Skewer Win and Fall
« on: May 10, 2015, 02:45:38 PM »

Chicken skewers worked...

Got a wild hair to try skewered meatballs. It's Mother's Day, but my wife spiced them up any way.

I was worried about them falling off, but figured what the heck. Not like I don't have enough grills, but I wasn't thinking and only fired one up, so decided to use the gasser to get a head start on the mb's.

Some started falling off...

Minor fail. But they were Great!

I'll just have to keep trying    8D

Dude, relax your chicken.

Nice skewers.   The meatballs look like a perfect excuse to get yet more toys.

Looks great!  Nice use of the warming rack, too!  Wish they'd start selling those as stand alone accessories.

I'm liking the elevated skewers a lot and wondering how I can make something like that work for me. Great looking grub.

I've yet to use the warming rack that came with my MT. That looks like the perfect first use for it. Thanks for the idea!

If you don't happen to have an elevator grate, maybe cut an old grate to size?

So it catches three hold tabs......

Rippin' Grate Cookup, man ........... 8)

What's a meatball here & there....BTW, absolute insurance from falling off only comes from wrapping in bacon...... :o

We were thinking eggs in the mix, but moinks are a more elegant solution.

It would be hard to improve on my wife's seasoning, but bacon always makes things better.

@addicted-to-smoke did a very detailed study on temps of the warming rack compared to the grate temp.   GUYS - it's not a warming rack it's a cooking rack - perhaps @addicted-to-smoke can share the findings somewhere on this site..??  (nice of me to volunteer him!!)   ;D

Dude I've already volunteered and ... begun the draft. End of week at the latest.
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch
