« on: April 27, 2015, 04:27:18 PM »
i have a friend agenting me a kettle from a far off land.

but the seller says it's a natural gas model and not a LP.

are those as common?

i hadn't heard of a natural gas kettle.
I only use kettles with lid bales.

They did make them. They are mentioned/featured in the 1979 catalog.

Another thing, it's got a base to the stand, so it's not permanent.  Its a mobile type.

Its not mine.  I saw it driving by a neighborhood around where I work.  I stopped by to inquire about it, but nobody was home.  I had no idea the base post was mounted in concrete.  It has a natural gas line running to it at the base too.  The lid had some pretty big chips on it.  I opened up the lid and the burner assembly was gone (trashed out).  I don't think the grill has been used in years by the looks of it.  I didn't feel so bad walking away from it after I saw its overall condition.

I say it would make a kick ass "display gasser" restore the outside and post and have it be a sweet looking yard ornament [that looks like a brand new display) with new zavods. Just sayin.... I'm intrigued by it! If I had it I could make a post for it I'm sure . [emoji6]

Oh but to live in the land where kettles come from. It's the ultimate kettle gasser. Never seen a pic of one of those in the wild. Bet they might not want any real money for it since it's busted. If won't unbolt somehow, might need a Bobcat to dig it up.
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch
