Broke in the new cooker...henceforth to be known as 'Ol Roly Poly...while Spring Break gave me the time to experiment...

Last night we tried to satisfy the non heat chicken lovers in the family with "Cherriyaki Chicken Wings"

Layed the wings out and gave them a light coating of olive oil...then sea salt and Memphis Dust. Let them sit for a couple of hours.

Got the grill up to 325, threw a couple of chunks of cherry on the coals and put the chicken on the indirect side.  Also put the Cherriyaki sauce in a small bread pan and placed in the grill to heat up and suck up some smokey goodness!
The Out of the blue thunderstorm made an unwanted visit...and after the lightening stopped went out and 'OL RP was holding steady at 285-290.  Continued to cook the wings until they hit 155-160 and then coated in the sauce and put back on grill over direct coals.  Flipped and cooked until they hit 170.  Once I got them in the house they didn't sit for long...

Did you mix cherry juice and teriyaki, or did the cherry part just come from the smoke wood?

Nevermind quick google search answered my own question. They look great, really nice color!

Welcome Brad. I'll try to remember heating spaces on the grill like that. Good idea!
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

1buckie...that was it. Caught my eye as I strolled through the store

Great stuff....try it out on some JVille's Cheddar or 4-Cheese brats....

just bake it onto them while cooking thru....one of those serendipitous discoveries (here, let's slop some of this on those) that made me weak in the knees when I tried it out.....I have people constructing their own sauce when we can't find it in the store.....just so they can have that combination at our get-together !!!

Cherryaki eh? Sounds good to me....enjoy the new Kettle. Wings are perfect for breaking in a new cooker.
