The rise in Brisket that they mention in the article is nothing compared to Skirt Steak.  I LOVE Skirt Steak, and 9 - 10 years ago in this area you were paying a 2.99 - 3.99 a lb.  I'd say 5 years ago it was up to like 6.99 - 7.99 a lb.  Last time I was in the supermarket, Skirt Steak was up to 13.99 a lb and I've seen it as high as 15.99 a lb.  I REALLY hope we don't see similar price hikes with brisket.

I don't think we will see a drop in price of any type of beef product for a little bit.  The problem is with the supply.  Demand is so high right now for beef that no one can keep up with supply.  It takes a lot longer to raise a cow to slaughter age and they produce a single calf at a time.

Of course. It just would be nice for a change to see a story about the drop in price of a premium product, rather than the inevitable increase.

You know you are too Weber focused when you read: Brisket in WSJ and think to yourself:

There is no way a brisket will fit in an SJ Mini WSM :)

We need to promote chicken and turkey more as healthy food

let everyone think cow and pork are bad for them

and stop eating those briskets with the juices flowing from them in public

If we were meant to grill with gas then the garden of Eden would have had a pipeline

Me too - I wanted to see how someone was going to control the temp in that WSJ for the number of hours it takes to cook a brisket, probably all folded up inside there :)

Just paid almost $100 for a full packer brisket the other weekend, not too many years back I think I was paying under $60.
