Demo Restoration, Please don't kick me out!

Ok some of you know the back story on my demo grill, for those who don't, here's a quick recap. I got this grill from my grandpa after he passed. It was his pride and joy and is also mine. I was talked into keeping it in its current state by some members, and I did until now. Since my grandpa had already began to remove the original finish, I decided to finish the job for him. I know it will no longer be original or could lose some value. But since I would never part with it, I thought why not. Here is what it used to look likeit was sanded down and spray painted. Since I've been using it, all the spray paint has flaked off and it's a constant battle to keep up with the rust. Here it is getting sand blasted After it was down to bare metal I filled the dents and pitts with this This is it today after two coats of the fillerMy plan is to give it a good sanding then off to the powder coated for a new paint job. My only question is about the color. It's will be black, but back then was it a gloss black like today's kettles, or more of a satin like the kettles of the 70's?  And just FYI the original demo logo is staying and carefully protected under some tape Sorry if some of the purists get upset but in some way I feel I'm finishing what my grandpa started, and he's laughing up there seeing me covered in sand and dust trying to get this damn enamel finish off. Good luck in your endeavors. I am interested to see if the powder coat holds up to some heat. I hope it does!

The powder coat will be rated at 1200 degrees. Hopefully that's enough. When its done it will most likely be a special occasion kettle. Definitely not going to be cooking ank pizzas in it.

Any help on the amount of "shine" the black paint should have would be a big help.

Looking good. I don't know if powder coating is going to hold up. You may want to look into having it ceramic coated by Jet-Hot or similar. http://www.jet-hot.com/

Thanks for the link. I just sent over an estimate form. They have coatings up to 2500 degrees. That should get the job done.
