Fired up Sierralita to season her a bit with some thick cut bacon.  I throw pieces of the smoked bacon into the dogs dishes with their kibble.  They love me....

I put 4 unfilled turds in as well to try something different:

I used this tomato/apple corer thingy to scoop the ice cream:



The payoff:



I'm not going to lie - not my favorite turd, but I thought I would give the "dessert turd" concept a try.  The technique is sound - cook the turd unfilled, and pack it after the cook.  I just need to find the right filling for a really good dessert turd.

I've traditionally just flop regular ones (well, those in the back are hab / blueberry) in on top of vanilla bean & slopped in some fruit topping.....bite a 'Turd, bite o' ice cream.....

I'm thinking banana pudding filling.  Goes with the bacon and does not melt.

OK, what the heck am I thinking here.....banana pudding, stable under heat, check,,,,,,peanut butter, stable under heat, check.......bacon, we know what happens there.......some kind of thick berry jam (if desired), stable to a certain extent under heat, most likely, check.......

Now, for 10 points, what was the actual Elvis sandwich?

just peanut butter & banana, or was there jam in there too?

Jeff, I used the dipping sauce that you broke out with the strawberries at the Westerner unveiling, except I mixed in fresh
blueberries and cook them up. The housemate requests that filling for turds a lot..

Hey Mirkwood, good one!  I bet that is pretty tasty.  You could even brush some brown sugar on the turds just before taking them off the smoker.

I have to agree buckie, I get to eat all the country style boneless pork ribs and bacon I rendered on the performer yesterday.
So pretty much a win for me..
