FREE PLUM........gasser

Was given a free gasser this past weekend. A friend was gifted it a year ago and never used it. Now he's moving, and was going to junk it... I told him I'd be happy to take it off his hands. It doesn't appear to need too much work. It's missing one flavorizer bar, and the others need to be cleaned. The grates (not CI, unfortunately) are in good shape; also just need a cleaning.  Oh... and it needs a couple of casters 

I don't know that it will get used. Maybe in the winter?  Couldn't pass up free... now, if I could just find a free red lid (shroud/hood?) for it....

A red lid would go great with the a collection of red kettles, but still a great score!

Naw, you don't need a red lid. That's the color a red turns when it's hot anyway.

I did see those rcplanedealer bars on ebay last night. We'll have to see what type of shape the originals are in.  It could be awhile - the gasser (along with most of my grills) are in storage at my sister's house, as we are in Home Sale Mode at my house. Hopefully the house sells quickly, we get into our new house, and I get all my grills back! Once the moving is done, then it will be play time again...

The lid can easily be repainted.  Just disassemble it, sand it, primer it, and repaint it with the high temperature BBQ paint of your choosing.

You don't want to paint the porcelain enamel.  That's not going to hold up well over time. 

The cast aluminium fire box and sides can be stripped and painted but I would leave the plum alone.
