Older performer gas tank question
« on: August 20, 2012, 11:34:44 AM »
This is gonna be hard to type while knocking on wood with one hand hoping that I don't jinx my deal. I "may" (please, please) be picking up a older stainless top Performer tomorrow. I know they use a different tank from my newer one that uses the camp stove model. I'm pretty neutral about what type of tank I use, the camp stove ones work fine on my other one and I have a extra fish fry tank or two laying around. What am I looking at price wise to get this thing running on the camp stove model or getting the valve changed out on the stock tank or switching it to the big tank size. Money is a factor since I could just set my chimney over on the Genesis side burner if its going to be too much trouble/expense.

My tank was marked OPD, a local dealer filled it no problem. It has the original size tank for a 90s SSP.

$35-55 for a replacement OPD tank in my area.

Or get a bulk tank refill adapter for disposables from Harbor Freight

I've also seen the fitting advertised as "The Steak Saver" for the Acme nut fittings.
