Picked this up yesterday for £30 ($40). seller pics definitely did it justice... probably a chimneys worth of used damp briquettes still inside, missing ash catcher and not a fan of those wheels!

Underneath all the crap it's actually in pretty decent shape, Wondered if anyone knows the color name, apparently according to a friend it's not Glen, it's more of a turquoise colour, I can't find any history of them online, the real 22" Glen reissue that came out with the 26" was a master touch and therefore had a lid bale

Nice find!  I can't believe anyone would treat that beautiful kettle so harshly.... You've got it looking nice!

On the color - possibly Bluewave, Turquoise or Wedgewood...  Here's a thread where someone has all 3 smokey joes that were produced in light blue.  Yours should be one of these.

It was a rough part of town trust me! I suppose to the majority they are just replaceable backyard cookers, glad to have been able to save this one!

That is cleaning up wonderfully. You are going to have a beautiful kettle when you're done. Great rescue and restore.

Greg, years ago I had seen the thread you linked and remembered the cool pic of the 3 light blues.
But reading through it again today - with all the different colors you received, I was reminded of Johnny Cash "One Piece at a Time".   LOL
Did you ever get enough of the same colors to put together a whole SJ (or two)?

Hey Brenda, yes I got enough parts to have a complete Wedgewood Blue SJ.  I've never used it, but get it out from time to time just to have in the office..... oh and used it on Halloween a couple times during Covid for candy bags.....

Tommie

Thanks all. Will post some pics after I've had some time to finish it

bamakettles haha that's a sweet idea! I'd be scared of the grabby kids around my way knocking a lid over
