Hi all, just thought I would provide an update on the well… it has now been carefully removed from its original home in IL and restoration has commenced. So thankful to the agent who has made all of this possible. You are a true legend. Thankyou.

Hoping to have the restoration complete by end of January so I will keep you updated for those interested and will provide a detailed description of the process and what was involved.

For those that are interested in it’s progress, the Well has arrived on Aussie shores and I’ve managed to strap up the slats to the lower barrel and install the hardware for the daisy vent access hatches. The original inner circular support for ash pan will remain in its untouched condition to help tell the story of this beauty. Can you believe that there are and were no nails holding those slats or pieces together.

Looking forward to now assembling the roof and getting the cado grill sitting in this beast.

Getting there [emoji28] amazing how good the stripped back original redwood ties in nicely with the reclaimed redwood fabricated pieces

It’s now at home and will be hauled into the yard when I want to get it warm for a cook. Just waiting on the crank handle assembly to be fabricated and she’s ready to go. So happy with how it’s turned out. Once it’s complete, for anyone interested, I will do a full walkthrough video on how it operates and will credit some awesome people that were involved in this project.
