I had to get mine re-certified. Any propane supplier can do it. I think it ran me $30 at the time. This was at least 5 yrs ago.

I have a place I bring mine to get filled and bring along my own QR fitting. Never had any issues.

If you are talking about filling a 5lb tank from a 20lb tank, then yes it does work and is fairly easy. You do need to build a custom hose which will cost a few $$, but then just follow the procedure shown in one of the many good old YouTube videos out there.

Not difficult but take on the project at your own risk.
