Lid handle Rust

Hey! Just out of curiosity, does anyone have any grate ideas to remove and keep the rust away from my lid handle. I have a Gen 2 performer that I love using but have noticed that the lid handle is starting to rust. Just looking for any advice and long term fixes. TIA!!!

Get it hot and put some cooking oil on it every once in a while, I've used canola and it seems to work well.
