Triangle repair
« on: May 03, 2021, 05:34:53 PM »
I was very happy to pick up this Aristocrat yesterday but it does have an issue I have not encountered in any restores.  The triangle hook is rusted off and was held to the front leg with wire.

I am looking for suggestions on how to make this 26 triangle sturdy and functional again.  I prefer keeping things as original possible.   I do have donor triangles if needed if transplanting part of a hook is reasonable.  I don’t like the wire look but it it did work.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe a stainless s hook or similar with the part on the triangle crimped in for lack of a better term?

Maybe find a local welder?
I have an Aristocrat that had the same issue.  Seemed to be an easy fix for our resident fab/welding master @Lilyankee. I sure don’t have the skills for this, but he made it look easy.  He cut off the hook from an old triangle and TIG welded onto the broken triangle.  It looks great!

Thanks!   That’s what I’m considering.

Gravy little job for a welder. Bring him a beer and it'll be done [emoji6]
