Restoration question for 1964-1969 era Kettle

I'm restoring a 1964-1969 era 18.5" kettle and am looking for the following era correct parts. Legs, wheels, ash pan, bottom wire shelf

Any info would be appreciated

Sir I believe you might have a traveler there and you would not want new legs or a triangle for it. I think it came that way and is desired as is.

Nice! Do you know if your grandfather bought it like that with red lid?   I have the exact same one. Mine came with twist on ash pan.

i Don't know he passed about 8 years ago and this was the only item i wanted to remember him by.  Thought its about time to start using it again.  can you send me a picture of yours i can use as a reference to try to find an ash pan...

awesome  thanks!   i have some rust where the 4 charcoal grate brackets are on the outside of the bowl and a little rust on the inside of the bowl.  Whats the best way to deal with that?

Most just use #0000 steel wool to remove the rust.  Once the rust is removed and there is bare metal showing, rub with bacon fat, olive oil or canola oil. Let it soak into the metal for a day then wipe and fire it up.  The heat somewhat cures the oil into the metal almost like seasoning a cast iron pan.  The best prevention from further rusting is to not let ash sit in the kettle during the winter or when it rains.  Water mixed with ash is very caustic and will eat away at bare metal.

Very cool grill. From what I understand this color combo was used sporadically around 1966 (for a couple years) for the Traveler and Fireplace Kettle. Get yourself three white leg caps from e-replacement. [emoji2]
