A Piece of GOLD found in a barn...

So, this very special 22" Wood Dale grill was listed on eBay in my area. Of course I had to go see it. On my inspection with a razor of the grill I verified that it was definitely not enamel, however what was puzzling me is the color ran under the original vents with factory rivets. Also, the white on the bowl and lid handles. I left concluding that this grill was either painted or chromed some how.

I reached out to my friend at Weber and he told me that he remembered seeing this gold grill in the lobby of their Arlington Heights Headquarters at 100 N Hickory. However, he was going to confirm with George Stephen Jr.

Well, days pass and still no confirmation. So, I had to make a decision, believe my friend and his memory or let her go. With a few seconds left in the auction, I decided to roll the dice...and I got her!

I texted my friend that I had got her and within an hour he messages me back that he's received confirmation and the grill is 100% authentic and that I needed to call his friend that worked at Weber since 1963 and talk to him.

Today, I talked to his friend on the phone and he gave me the complete history of the mysterious gold grill. This grill is a 1 of 10 piece made for Weber Corporate. George Sr. kept two which he couldn't tell me where they went. He personally moved the remaining from Arlington Heights HQ to Palatine HQ before he retired.

The grill was made by applying black enamel, then white enamel, and then it was plated with real gold.

I present to you Miss Hawn! Boom

Nice!!!!!!!!

If it's name is Goldie Hawn, that means you'll be referred to as Kurt Russell considering what you're likely gonna do to 'er.  If it results in a sexy Kate Hudson, I'm calling dibs.

Obviously looking for a Glen Blue (who isn't?😂).

Looking for anything Happy Cooker, including any re-branded as Montgomery Ward.  I've amassed a nice collection, but I'm missing a few still.  Let me know if you can help a fella out🤞

I saw this listed on ebay. What was the final price, if you don't mind me asking. She's a beauty! Congratulations!

I'm not a fan of safe queens / garage queens, but given the uniqueness and history (and real gold) of that, I'd never cook on it.  By the way, digging the Spiccoli Vans!

100% couldn't agree with you more! I cook on all of my grills, and I'd cook on this one too if my friend at Weber didn't tell me not too. Yes, love the Vans thanks!

I wouldn't cook on it, simply because it wasn't really designed for cooking on.
