Double screw handle 18?
« on: April 24, 2020, 01:41:19 PM »
I picked up this C code 18 with double screw bowl handles but a single screw lid handle.  I've seen the 22s similar to this but not 18s.  Was this original?

The prior owner painted them black.

Yes, it is probably original.  C Codes (1981) was the transition year from MBH's (Metal Bowl Handles) to wood handles on the bowls. I was also the year Weber changed from twin rivet wood handles on the lids to single screw wood handles.  Anytime Weber made a design change to kettles they had a habit of using up available inventory of parts from the previous year.    You'll find many variations of the handles on C Code kettles.  Early production ones will have twin rivet handles on both the bowls and lids (referred to as a "triple double" by WKC members).  Then you'll see ones like yours that have a combination of both twin rivets and single screw wood handles.  The later production ones have all single screw wood handles on the bowl and lids.
