Wow, congratulations @Hubert311 .  Nice acquisition story.  This kettle and how you came to posses it needs to be documented in the WKC Grill Gallery.  I will PM to get photos and details for a write up.

Here is a photo quote from @harris92 regarding wheel colors of 1956-1958 kettles.

I've heard of blank lid vents but can't recall the story behind them.  One of these members might have some input on blank vents.

Beautiful kettle. Congratulations.
I'm glad the seller honored her original price and didn't give in to the vultures.

I wouldn't get to high on the seller, another WKC member also was told he was first in line, had an agreement with her for her asking price, had her cell number and location and was ready to pick it up.  He got a text from her late that night saying that the deal was off because her husband had decided to give the grill to an employee of his who had to be laid off. Second time in less than a week that he was burned too.  Not questioning the original poster's story, but the seller should have been honest to other(s?) she may have been stringing along.

Cellar2ful You have the wheel color dates backward. Red was 1953 thru 1957. White-1958 to sometime in 1960. I shared with him the blank vent perspective from a BBQ HIstorian (info that was passed onto to me).

No clue about any of that. The seller told me what she told me...  I have the texts to prove this, knowing folks would question such a deal . I've been the one burned many times over. I was told I was the first in line, the reason I loaded up and went to Nashville on an April Fool's post....

Don't know how I switched the color dates when I had the photo with the dates on the PC screen in front of me. At least I had the colors straight (lol). I deleted the date error in my previous comment.

You might as well let me take it off your hands, because your "finds" are probably going to all be going downhill from here.
