How To Thank Someone?

This may sound odd, but I was looking at my profile and see that the site keeps track of "Thanks Given" and "Thanks Received" or something similar according to posts.  I can't for the life of me figure out how to thank someone in a post or looking at past events see how to add a thank you.  Any guidance is appreciated.

I believe the thanks button is limited to the app now
