Just about to put the phone down and ease off into the land of nod last night and the "LetGo" app hits me up with the "Weber" alert. Up pops this red master touch. I send a message and went and got it this afternoon. It was in rough shape & the price was 40$.....I had originally planned to haggle but after a short conversation with the seller I decided that 5 or 10$ wasn't something I had to hold onto that bad.

Some damage to the lid along the rim.
Missing leg cap.
A bit wobbly.
Some rust here & there.
Wooden handles gone.
Grates look rough.
No baskets.

I like it. Looks to be 1998 / EZ.
Well.....it's gonna be a project, but I think I've got some plans for this one.

Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

Man, have been looking for one of these, or a red SSP for what seems like forever.  Hopefully I will find one soon!  Nice looking grill!

Question.......
Somebody school me on this color thing.
What's with the darker band around the bottom of the lid?
Is that a result of heat on the paint from use over many years?
Or is that an actual paint job?

No paint on Weber grills, they are porcelain coated. And that color is called red mist

My mistake - I know it's porcelain...did not mean to say paint.
That said.....is there anything that can be done about damage like this?

I can handle everything else but that looks like something above my pay grade.

Well, I just turn the lid around.  Some people do try touching up with high heat paint, like engine paint.  If there is some bare metal, you can put some cooking oil on it to season it & prevent further corrosion.
