Are there any issues with sparks? I was thinking of maybe wrapping 3 feet or so of mesh around it, but in a way that was easily removable when it was time to extinguish the fire or when one did not care about sparks (beach fires).

I've noticed it's mostly the type of wood you use, I had some that were like fireworks... some wood is more prone to popping than others, you can look it up or someone here may know, I can't remember off hand.

Now I know what to do with my original Charcoal ring from my wsm since I have the CB ring as well. I just put a new in the box fire pit together and was going to put sand and a grate in it. I ordered the cover through eBay ( actually ordered 2 just so I know I had a back up since Weber doesn't have it anymore)

I haven't set it up yet as I am still waiting for the cover from eBay. Didn't want it to get exposure to the elements, it's still in my garage staying warm.
