Question - Sears economy kettle
« on: April 03, 2018, 11:18:16 PM »
Does anybody have pics of fully restored or new Sears economy kettle? What I'm interested in is whether there was a leg cap ( and if yes which colour) and whether the original handles had any branding or not. Thnx a lot in advance!

I found a Sears Kettle being thrown out a few weeks ago.  Not sure of what it was at the time, I posted about it - http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/weber-kettles-accessories/can-someone-identify-this-old-kettle/msg362333/#msg362333

The handles had no branding.  The leg cap was missing, so can't help you there.  I ended up ditching the kettle, but keeping the leg & wheel assembly as spare parts.

I had two of them. Both had plastic handles. One has Sears molded into it, the other had Kenmore. Neither had a leg cap when I got them. Both had rusty steel legs.

Thnx for the info so far. I will restore one with wooden handles and I'm not sure if there was any branding on them (one of the handles was intact when I collected the kettle but it was so hardly used that I cannot recognize if there was any branding). For the leg cap the same - I have none but I suppose there was one.

I found an 18" on CL. The handles were plastic and had Happy Home branded on them. I don't remember if mine had a leg cap on it. Here are the picks I have.

Just go to the hardware and buy a cap to protect the leg. Who cares if it came with one or not? Protect it. Just sayin'... I know y'all are balls to the wall resto, butt I can't see a leg cap being an issue. Just me I guess... :)

I agree.  It's just protecting the thing.  If it hadn't come with one, you could always remove it "for show".  Kind like buying a cover for it.  It didn't originally come with one.....so....
