I got an 18" performer a while back.  One night I thought what the hell, I threw a tri tip on it.  Was awesome, but recently I found a love for my Smokey Joe...  did 2 pork tenderloins and it worked flawless!

addicted-to-smoke

I have an unnatural love for my Jumbo Joe. I know I'm not supposed to like it too much because of the squat design but damn if it doesn't make for a great cooker, portable or not. Most of the time it stays in storage, lest I start using it so much my 22's get dusty. Yeah, I have issues ...

My lone regular 18 gets less use because I don't like daisy wheel intakes.
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

LOVE 3 wheelers!
So much more control, especially for indirect.

addicted-to-smoke

Maybe indirect has less meaning (and usefulness?) on an 18, where everything is cozier both horizontally and vertically. I admit to never so much as having seen a 3-wheeler 22 in real life.

I find the intakes harder to open/close, hard to prevent bending the vents, and also food gunks them up and then they won't seal shut, and the stop tabs either get bent or broken, making knowing when they are closed impossible without bending down to look.

But none of tat is what this thread is about ...

Love the 18 and am always looking for an excuse to break it out.  This one is very special as it is a Wood Dale 49er, and was a gift from @jcnaz

In an ongoing relationship with a kettle named Bisbee.

That thing looks like it stepped straight
off the catalog page.  Beautiful.

That's a real beauty, for sure! It is cool to see that it still not only looks like new but cooks that way, too!
