There is quite the story behind this "Motor City Thumbscrew" grill - but after 3 years in the caring possession of
@MrHoss it is about to begin new chapter here on the West coast. When the grill was originally spotted on CL, a small but lethal WKC technical extraction team comprised of
@LightningBoldtz @MrHoss and myself sprung into action.
It was a wild day of phone calls and mind changes, but ultimately the successful purchase of the grill. We were thrilled to see the grill go to Hoss and ever since then he's been the custodian of this treasure. Recently he decided to pass along a select few grills and was kind enough to offer this one up to me. As appealing as the offer sounded I tried to talk him into keeping the grill, but Hoss being Hoss insisted that he had made up his mind and that if I didn't want it, it would be going somewhere else... That more or less sealed the deal.
I then had to explain to my wife that I really had no choice in the matter, and that we would be adopting another rather large kettle family member
Thank you again for this MrHoss, this grill will join the rest of the troops and will be treated like the special piece of history it is. Cheers buddy!
OH! And a
BIG THANKS TO THE BRILLIANT UPS DRIVER WHO DROPPED IT INSIDE THE FRONT DOOR LIKE THIS! I almost died when I came down the stairs and saw it sitting on its side... thankfully Hoss knows the drill and packed it like a pro.
So here she is in all her glory! The 1967-68 thumbscrews Aristocrat:
Here is another special part of the deal - A 26.75" Rotisserie ring and Corn N' Tater Ring... you know, for when you need 20 ears of corn
Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and here's looking forward to 2018!
Matt
