First time smoking brisket flat

I'm pretty new to this. My experience is limited to ribs and pork butts but wanted to try more.
I picked up a 22" OTP on CL that was hardly used and took the plunge.

7.5 lbs Trinmed and rubbed with S&P.
Snake with hickory chunks for smoke
Kingsford Professional briquettes.
Kettle is holding at 250 degrees although the charcoal seems to be burning faster than anticipated.

3 hours in and internal temp is at 167.

The vette has been in my family since new. It's the one thing I'll never part with.

Keep us posted.  Be ready to add to that snake, I cooked a large brisket on my 26er and had to add another foot and a half to the snake to finish it.

Yep. I had to add to it. 8.5 hours at 250. The kettle held the temp really well. Now it's resting for another hour.
