Hi all...

I picked up an 18 inch red, G code this evening in great condition and immediately saw something like a plaque on the grate but it was all black from being cooked on, so when we got home I couldn't wait to clean it up to see what it was. It turns out it is a warning written in German and French, not to use alcohol or gasoline to light the fire. I did a search on the forum but couldn't find any information on this. Has this been seen before?

See link below for an image:

What makes it even more strange is that I'm in the UK. The guy I picked it up from wasn't very forthcoming with information when I tried to get some history on it.

Thanks for looking!

Interesting tag to have on a grate. Wonder if there were some issues with fires.

this came up a few years back as well

as I recall, all of the webers from germany or perhaps another (multiple?) country required a few additional warnings and/or features to meet the countries import requirements.
There are euro webers with flared legs too. I bet @Craig has pics saved.

Darko

Yeah. It's  a Euro  thing.

I have seen a few of the same tags on grills for sale here in The Netherlands, I am close to the German border and these are grills that have made there way across the border from Germany.

Thanks for your replies. I guess this kettle must have been imported from Germany or France at some point. Will try and get some more pics up tomorrow.
