I can't find a local retailer that has any plans to stock it until springtime. Special orders only.  I guess I'm stuck with mail order.  I'm still hoping for the best.  Will know more tomorrow when it arrives.

At this point I'd hope to be dealing only with a local retailer. Open and inspect right away. The question becomes, what happens if the first/second box isn't right? I wouldn't expect the retailer to open them all up.

I suspect the best "guarantee" of quality is to get a replacement sent from Weber, however. We haven't yet read of any circumstances of the replacements being wrong.

But I'm an optimist. I know that every return hurts Weber financially, and directly. And that means they have a positive incentive to not only make the customer whole, but to fix the product also. That tangibly helps everyone, Grillfella and innocent civilian alike!

Withholding my dollars due to Weber's managerial decision on where to manufacture has exactly the same effect as never being a grilling enthusiast in the first place: They'll never know why you didn't buy it, so why should they "care," or even speculate?

And by the way, no company will ever place an Internet enthusiasts' forum displeasure as a primary product planning exercise. It's a fantasy.

Someone wise recently admonished us to concentrate on the product and not its country of origin. Well, I guess the temptation was too great and it didn't happen.

Now I'm gonna go take a break, and play with my new Thermoworks Smoke, Designed in Utah, Assembled in China. Highly recommended on WKC.
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

I deleted my own posts. Nothing was wrong with them but I needed to butt out and quit being a pest.

My apologies. Carry on

The only thing they will hear about is complaints in the future and people on this forum are tuned in to the 10th degree so they are just hearing about it from us first.

How many people are going to buy a preassembled grill and never see the leg sockets?
How many are just going to put together because they didn't know any different?

When they rust out that is when Weber will have a problem backing up their warranty because they will be short on this RED Colored bowls... unless they produce 1 for 1 so that everyone - over time can return it.

It is a shame that it is like this due to a quality control aspect.... but as long as Weber learns from the mistake and can do right by the customer ( warranty replacement ) then I am ok with a glitch in this rollout.

My replacement that Weber overnighted me is flawless. Looks even better with these sweet handles... nice red Weber Grill System here...

HOLY GRAILS: 1950s era Black or Custom finish 18.5 or 22.5 Kettle, Brown Go Anywhere grill.
Those handles are sick!

Just got to let you guys know, my grill came with black dots on the lid, the bowl is crazy the red didn't cover good , black showing through. Weber customer service said it's acceptable. There not going to do anything about it. So I have a 200.00 piece of junk, wish I would have never preorder this thing. The new weber company will never get a penny of my money again. And this is after I have calmed down. So be careful out there.

I would call back and speak to a different rep!

I talked to other reps, on these red limited grills they can't make a decision, it comes from higher up, managers, supervisors.

Wow, that's disappointing to hear. The fact that the red grills potentially have a different warranty protocol than lets say a black one is even more concerning. Perhaps some alarm bells are going off and they are trying to avoid replacing hundreds of grills?

They have always been good at making things right in the past, lets hope they come to their senses... if not I hate to say it but I would return the grill to where it was purchased :\

Is there bare metal under the leg sockets? That was the red flag that they said it would make replaceable.

Yep there's a big email to the reps, they can not do anything with out upper people looking at it . I have other problems in the past with grills they always fixed it , the reps, but on these there hands are tied

I may have to eat some crow, I commented earlier in this post about Weber's amazing customer service. Since the last post I made I decided to purchase a second red kettle from a local alliance dealer, same dealer that my first LE kettle came from. After getting it home and unboxing I have came across the same problems everyone else is having. One call to customer service fairly painless, one email with the pics that the asked for. I received a phone call today from customer service to find out that bare metal in the leg sockets are "acceptable" and they will not warranty the grill. Needless to say I'm not very happy with my beloved Weber.

Not smart at all on Weber's part.  The reviews will start to come in on Home Depot, Lowes, and Amazon and there will be nothing they can do to fix it at that point.  Really dumb.

I would take it back to the dealer and let them deal with weber, it is obvious that the higher ups at Weber are not receptive to calling customer service any longer, if they get it from the dealers too, maybe they will do something about it.    These are the concerns that some of us expressed a few years back when Weber sold to the capital venture company.  I hope they right this ship, I am not pleased with the new genesis models and this new grill is definitely a let down.  While mine is not as bad as others, I can see clearly where they have cut costs in manufacturing.
I am not a collector, but I do have a small collection.
