I think Weber is playing us for suckers on this LE grill. The hype has been enormous in recent months and everyone wants the red Christmas grill. Then they make as many as possible as fast as they can, as cheap as they can in a foreign factory and fill the stores with poorly manufactured products right before the holidays. It is had to believe people are rushing out to buy these things. This is a holiday hustle from Weber. I had ordered one from amazon but have cancelled. Going forward Weber will likely correct the manufacturing process and keep making these but without the anniversary nameplate. This LE is a gimmick to shift manufacturing to a foreign country.

Just heard back from Weber. They are shipping me a new kettle that their QA team has inspected. I'm hoping for the best.

What I don't understand is why so many images shared here also show missing paint at the hole's edge where the One Touch sweeps go through. It's as if they used the hole as a support while painting the rest of the bowl, and the support covered up a little of the hole's edging. Even when applied properly, that area takes a ton of heat abuse and often chips.

They have always been like that. I assume because the two layers of black and colored porcelain cause clearance issues.

I am curious about those that are cancelling their orders, are you doing this because you have changed your mind, or that you are concerned that Weber will not make this right?

In my mind the more grill fellas that catch this and report it, the more that Weber might right the ship down the road.

The flaws that we see the normal joe will not or will not know and as these things get used and fall apart quick than expected it will hurt their reputation long term.

Or they might scrap the idea of making kettles over seas which would be a good thing.

They just got back to me about the leg sockets NOT being within their specs, The One touch hole said was due to manufacturing process. They told me to register the grill and let them know when completed so they can send me out a new bowl.  I am concerned with the color not matching though and I am definitely going to give the lid another once over in sunlight, not in the darkness of my garage :)

Did they ask for the damaged bowl and lid back? Others have been asked by Weber to return them.

Well, it looks like I spoke too soon.  I got around to inspecting the bowl this morning and  the leg sockets are bare metal on the insides as well as the bowl directly under them.  There are several other poorly coated/not coated spots around the bowl , specifically where it mates with another piece (I.E. handle)

I guess it's time to call Weber...

Edit:  I'm not sure what the deal is with Weber this morning?  Maybe I got someone new?  In the past when I have called, it's been a quick conversation followed by a quick delivery.  Today I was grilled (LOL) for 25 minutes about where I got the grill, how long I had it, why did I just receive it if I ordered in August?

They called me back FOUR times to request additional information and pictures.

I love Weber and have always been treated right in the past.  Today I am F'n pissed.  The CSR acted like I was trying to pull a fast one, even AFTER I provided a receipt, a screenshot of my order from Amazon, and pictures of the grill showing bare metal.

This was all after I had to explain that "yes, you do make a red kettle, I just got one this week." >:(

Call them to register it. The website does not have the limited edition in the drop down yet.  They did mine for me and it shows up as "22" Original Kettle Premium Limited Edition Red Kettle".

1. I don't want to deal with the (likely) hassle of dealing with Weber on this
2. I'm voting with my wallet for Weber to keep these grills USA made. (or at the bare minimum, vote that this level of quality is not on par with the Weber brand)

Shit, I want those handles and don't even have one of these grills.

I stopped and checked the display at Ace this morning. And I'm disappointed but likely wouldn't be if I hadn't read this thread. The color is sweet but the coverage looks poor. 90% of the people won't notice or care

And I'll likely still get one since I kinda feel like I talked the guy into ordering them and I have a gift card so my actual investment will be small
