I find this thread humorous and fun

Give em what they've been begging for relentlessly and then listen to them complain, LOL.

I give my guys at work all sorts of special things as a thank you for their hard work and all I get back are negatives.  I give them gift cards to local grocery stores at Christmas for a nice Christmas dinner and I get "I don't shop at that store."  I give them baseball tickets and get "I don't like baseball."  Passes for the fair and ride tickets for their kids "I would rather just have the cash."
You try and do something to please people and all you get are complaints it makes you say to hell with it.  I'm not doing it anymore.

I know that feels!
As a bystander, I appreciate the things you do for your team Josh.
I've been in that situation and it sucks. 2017 people are spoiled and difficult to please.

I red the thread but didn't see any mention of a red 26".  So, is it to early too ask for a red 26"?

I take my words back about it being an April Fools joke and admit I was wrong. I just spoke to another local Weber dealer and he acknowledged that the above information is correct.  He also seemed to imply that it was kind of a test by Weber to see how much of an interest there will be in limited runs like this one. He almost made it sound like if this one is popular enough they may do more in the future.
Looking for Blue Mastertouch or Blue Performer.

Currently have: Performer (Green); 22.5 Mastertouch (Red); 26.75 OTG;  22.5 WSM; 18.5 WSM; Jumbo Joe; SJS (Green Uline); SJG (used for Mini WSM); Blue SS Performer; Blue MBH; Summit

That's what I'm talking about! If they make a yellow that will turn orange and blush for me then I'll sell whatever I have to sell to get one.

I called Weber today and all they will confirm is that it is coming later this year.  They gave me the number of the local Weber Alliance dealer here on Long Island. The list on their website is not accurate at all.

Of course the dealer didn't hear of it, and they were in training last month.  I sent them the brochure that was posted online and they're going to call Weber tomorrow and check to see about ordering.  Hopefully there is no minimum quantity. It would be great if I could buy this grill less than 30 minutes from my home.

TheDude

Stopped in to my non-alliance dealer today. They will be getting them. They were a bit supprised how I knew. Also had no idea about the Topper branding. Wouldn't tell me a price, and said May arrival.
Still need a 22" yellow

I agree with HoosierKettle. I think they are missing the boat also. The OTS/OK in red would probably generate more profit on increased sales. This is a stripped Master Touch at a premium price. Weber is all about the profit margin. Didn't see any OTG/OKP  ash catchers on the beautiful red kettles posted earlier in this thread. Weber could easily have some twist on ash pans punched out overseas. No big deal, that can changed out. The taco handle can be modded to look almost like the welded handle(even though it is turned the wrong direction for a 22 lid), but the POS thermometer is an abomination. I would buy it if I had the bucks to throw away and break it up for parts, and make it look like those vintage kettles in the pictures. Maybe someone will make a silver bolt on kettle or Topper logo to plug the thermometer hole. What about that little classic red 18 that George is standing beside in his suit? The 18 needs some color for the US/Canada markets too, Weber!

TD

My mistake, that is a 22. but the little neglected 18 could use a color option like the  UK was offered

What's wrong with the thermometer?
Also, what is OK and OKP?

My thing about it being made in China doesn't stem from a "buy American" theme. It's about the cadmium.

Are you concerned about cooking on one of these for health reasons?  @charred

Not really. I have reds that I cook on. But, they're old. They're not a new product, that I personally am funding, which requires cadmium. I wonder about the manufacturing facility and how safe the process will be for the workers. Besides, I'm more interested in old kettles.
Your old product has cadmium as well. That's what gave it that nice red colour.

@Darko No shit Sherlock.  :)

But they're already manufactured. No new use of cadmium was necessary.
What amount of cadmium is used in these grills is minor.

That's probably true but I have no idea. I also have no idea how safe the manufacturing process is for the worker. China isn't known for reputable worker or environmental standards.

In the past I have clamored for colors, but that was pre-taco handle. Now, I'm not interested in them at all. For me, it's like buying a 2002 Thunderbird because I want a '55. YMMV.  :)

hopelessly, helplessly, happily addicted to a shipload of Webers
