Blue Kettle Performer Gen 2 Find
« on: September 04, 2016, 07:58:42 PM »
I just scored a Blue Performer with gas assist and cover from Craigslist for $50. It does have 2 quarter size spots on the lid where the enamel has chipped but for the most part it's in great condition. The cooking grate only was used a few times and the cover has bad cracking. I think for $50 this will be my main kettle and be kept on the deck in the great outdoors.

How'd I do, what can I do to fix the blue enamel and does Weber keep this color in stock? If so how much are they?

Great score! Was this the one in Carbondale, Il? I personally wouldn't bother with the chips. Heat the cooker up and dab a little oil on it. It helps keep the rust at bay. Those chips are its character in my opinion. Great find bud!

I agree.  If anything, because you got it so cheap and it sure is pretty I'd consider getting the metal table for it.  I think the metal table takes the plastic table performers to the next level and it's literally a 5 minute swap out unscrewing the old one and screwing the new one in.

Thanks for all the tips and suggestions. I did my first cook on it just a bit ago and the steaks came out amazing but I didn't quite get the grill marks I was aiming for.

@robbanton common misconception. Grill marks aren't what you are looking for.
