Overheard this evening.....

So my wife invites friends over on Sunday. No problem, I can whip something up. Then she calls from the grocery store to tell me pork picnic shoulders are on sale for $1.50/lb. Hmm....easy choice, pulled pork sandwiches it is. Fast forward to 10:00pm tonight when my daughter gets home from work (and the pork is already on the smoker)........."Yum, I love sleeping when it smells like bacon outside."

Little does she know that I will be frying up some pork cracklings for breakfast tomorrow morning. Either way, I take it as a compliment, and that my effort is appreciated from time to time. That is all. Happy grilling/smoking

Excellent! I love pork cracklings. I frequently cook for 2 (girlfriend and myself) and usually gor for a small boneless butt when we want pulled pork but I should definitely get back to considering picnics.

Love those cracklings! Sprinkle some Tony's on them when you first take them up , it is awesome. We used to slaughter our own pork when I was growing up, so I've spent a lot of time stirring cracklings and rendering the lard.
