From where I sit it looks like a normal red (cadmium) Statesman 22

It looks like a redhead that's turned that ruby red because hot and has something cooking in it.

What's a color??  Ahhhh, you mean colour!   :)  ;D ;D

Honestly, having tasted the roasts that come out of these things, I wouldn't be bothered what ever it was.  As it turned out, the one we scored from the inlaws is a red one.

However, if they were all lined up in a shop, that would be the one I would have chosen...she's come home methinks..

'Redhead' for me!

Weber had to stop making it's iconic red kettles because the government said the cadmium in the red paint was harmful the the environment. So I heard from a customer service rep.  When the powder which they spray on the metal before it is sent to the ovens, is cleaned up there is no where to dump it.  Landfill can't take it and can't ship it to Canada.  Because the kettles are made here in the States, Weber can't make the red kettle which made it so famous to begin with.  Anyone remember red MM's.

No more red M&M's? :o

I had a very rare red that was only made for one year I call Crimson because it was so dark, yet had a brightness to it. That was the prettiest color I have ever seen on a kettle. Mine was pristine too. I will look for a pic of it.

That's exactly what Alan, my Weber rep told me years ago. He said at that time (in 2001) that Weber was working on a new formula. Seems that has taken some time, 12 years hence.  :(

Is the Crate and Barrel green one of those listed above?

I believe the crate and barrel are limes.

Crate and Barrel was called "grass green" as stated on my original Smokey Joe box.
Also, the color of Ivory is actually called "bone".  My white european Smokey says "bone" on the box.

I think the crate and barrel green is the Lime green color. I know the uline green is lime green. I have the box to prove it.

EDIT* I think the ULINE is lime green, Apparently crate and barel is "Grass Green"

Here's the most up to date info. from this thread.
Please help with any corrections. Dates, duplicate (e.g.: pink and chestnut copper tone same color?, sea foam teal glen blue and turquoise same color?)
Also, if you know years and models I would like to add those also.  I will work on getting photos of each color once I get the colors identified.
Thanks for your help.

The black panhandle SJ with white specks was ealy 70's and the "Pea Green" was called Sage and was only used on a gas kettle and a SJ in the early 70's. Like I said before, we need a picture of an actual grill to go with each color. I'm not sure how we do that, but I can provide pictures of several.

The timeline calls this a 1957 Smokey Joe, but I have my doubts as it has a wood handle. The 1964 catalog shows the "Improved Smokey Joe" with a bare metal offset handle. So this could be from 1965-66.   :-\ The Sage Green SJ picture that I have is from the 1972 catalog, pictured with a black-speckled and red SJ. I'm having a time trying to get the image alone to copy, paste and load. It's in PDF format on my computer. So Duke I stand corrected, black with white speckles SJ's were around well into the 1970s.

Heres some pages from the 1968 catalog. Westerner was still available at the time. I've seen a pic of a flat top Westerner too. Theres Chestnut Coppertone...still no Chocolate-Copper Mist yet.  Plus thumbscrews still featured and the 26"ers are still round top here. But it's possible and highly likely that the photoshoot was done in 1967. Plus I thought the Ranger didn't get redesigned until the early '70s but perhaps it was in the late '60s.

No, I think you are right. I have only seen one like that from a distance in an old picture. I think that's the oldest SJ they made. I have a '61 like that, but it doesn't have the specks and wood handle. The legs are what make me believe it is a 1957 model. Great picture. If you have anymore old SJ pics like that please share them. :)

Not old Smokey Joes, but I found the couple pics of the crazed/marble greenish 18.5. At least it looks greenish....maybe it's just my eyes?  :-\
