I picked up one of these from the local camping store the other day and it screws directly onto a performer regulator

It works great and the disposable butane cans are a helluva lot cheaper than the canisters

Hey Hogsy, do you need anything other than this to fit it to a standard Australian performer like mine?

Nope just the stove/ adapter
Like this-

Edit: I did use some gas tape on the thread of the adapter so it sits parallel with the performer once it's attached

For those of us that don't want to pay postage from down under, would <a href=http://www.ebay.com/itm/Triangle-Three-Leg-Butane-Gas-Stove-Adaptor-Nozzle-Bottle-Screwgate-Transfer-/161041164332?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item257ecd282c>this one</a> work?

I wonder if using Butane is easier, cheaper & safer than refilling disposable Propane cylinders from a bulk tank with an adapter like<a href=http://www.ebay.com/itm/Propane-refill-adapter-1-lb-propane-bottle-refill-Camping-summer-tool-/121360820063?> this </a>
Looking for a RED 26" Kettle & a tabbed no leg RED 22" Kettle near STL. Copper Sam Adams SJ anywhere 8)

Hey Rich I was kinda thinking the same thing
I've been refilling the same 2 canisters with that adapter for 2 or 3 years and have been wondering how long I can refill them before they become dangerous, seeing as they don't have an inspection date like a normal gas bottle

The butane has slightly different burning characteristics,  but nothing that will affect what we use it for. ie lighting the charcoal.

Why not just use a gas adapter hose so you can connect a 20# propane tank directly?  I think the hose was $15 from HD.  I'm not sure I'd trust refilling disposable bottles.

For the older Performers- just for modification purposes:
In the US, Mr Heater sells an adapter fitting called a "Steak Saver" $$$, and its essentially a bulk tank refill fitting for a few bucks at cHina Freight!

I cook on: Backwoods Gater, Lang 36, Hunsaker Smokers, Pellet Pro 22" WSM, BGE's, WSM's, Cajun Bandits, PK Grills, Drum Smokers, Genesis Silver C, Weber Q's, Cookshack 008, Little Chief, La Caja China #2, Lodge Sportsman...oh yeah! Weber Kettles! Kamado restoration and pit modification hack!

There's actually a small inline valve on the regulator. At least on those older Performers..  8)
I don't care if you don't like my Avatar, its there for me..

How come you just don't get the Weber Q adapter hose so you can connect it to a big propane tank.  Those tiny bottles suck.  I got the hose and attached the big take last spring.  JUst replaced it a month ago.  I would never go back to anything else.

I think the hose/regulator setup is different here in OZ
Plus I move my performer around a bit and find it a bit more portable rather than dragging the large bottle around
I'm getting 10+ starts from one little canister and at a $1 a canister it seems like pretty good value
I also like the stock look of the smaller canisters
