Performer disassembly tool kit
« on: April 17, 2014, 04:11:48 PM »
Can anyone give me a quick run down of what someone would want to take with them to disassemble a newer style performer?  I know the bowl tabs are held down by Philips screws, but I wasn't sure about the table top or anything underneath regarding the frame rails. Are there and torx/Allen heads or anything else goofy I should know about?

1- Phillips Screwdriver
1- Flathead Screwdriver

That's all you need, the flathead is to pop the gas orifice clip off. Everything
else is a phillips. Should take you less than 10 minutes, any longer and I
would start to question your love of the Weber Grill!!!!  ;D

Weber performer manual pg 6: http://c929377.r77.cf2.rackcdn.com/54788_072012.pdf shows a philips screwdriver (#2 and #3 should do but the igniter is  held onto the tube with a #1 though), wrench (likely 7/16" for the 1/4-20 hardware), hammer and block of wood for assembly so that's likely all you'll need for disassembly.

Excellent. Thank you gents. Hopefully picking one up Saturday morning. It needs a little TLC, but looks to be solid and all there per the current owner. If all goes well, it's going to be cleaned up and gifted to a buddy to help spread the Weberitus.

Done a few.... Battery powered drill/screwdriver with a Phillips bit is handy

No power tools, to honor the majesty of the Weber you have to do it old school! By Hand!!

You should see how fast I can disassemble an SS performer with a 7/16" socket on a drill and a philips/flathead screwdriver.  ;D

Scratch that plan.  I was going to disassemble it to fit in my beater Corolla, but an SS popped up too close to pass up. Looks like I'm taking the truck and bringing home a pair of performers.  Hell of a week for grill acquisitions  ;D

Gonna have to take some pics and change my status on that "how many grills you own" pole before the end of the weekend.

^^^^ Do not doubt this, folks.....I've seen how fast he moves with a camera, other machinery can't be that far behind..................... 8)
