How are you stripping the finish off cart? I'm thinking about having mine sandblasted.  And what are you thinking about refinish? High temp powder coat or grill paint?

...epic kettle! I need one.

Nice.  The Woodard looks similar to mine, but there are some minor differences.

I finished the Woodard cart. Still have some work to do on the grill.
It is nice to work with a light cart instead of a 400 - 500 lb smoker. :)

*Pressure wash with a mild detergent
* Hand sanded several areas followed by two light coats of rust neutralizer (in those areas).
* Stored in a dry area for 24 hours
* Two coats of  satin black Sherwin Williams paint.  Applied with an airless paint sprayer.
* Hand painted the red areas (also a Sherwin Williams paint)

There is a nice size area for a cutting board (4th pic).  A buddy of mine is making me a mahogany cutting board to fit.

Nice job, I really like it now with the two tone and I didn't realize it had an indention for the cutting board. That's going to be a really nice cart when it's finished. Just a question, isn't Sherwin Williams house paint? Wouldn't auto paint have been better or do they make paints other than just house paint?

They make all types of speciality products (for metal, high heat, etc).  They officially call the product I put on a "coating".  I just call it a paint....

Nice looking cart and nice work on the restoration.

Can you give us specific product identifiers for the rust neutralizer and paint? Are they better than the rattle can Rustoleum (or similar) products that I would choose?

Yes, smokers ... My NBBD is 1/8" metal and the better ones are 1/4.  :o

For this project I used Jasco Prep and Prime and Duration® Exterior Acrylic Coating.  Duration is a really nice product for wrought iron projects. Yes, approx 10 of the smokers I restored were 1/4".  Personal use I am down to two (both old school Oklahoma Joe's). :)

Sherwin Williams makes the finest wood finishing products I have ever seen.  I think they are only commercially available, but they are really sweet.
